Antique Tractors Gear Up for 2016 Tractor Relay Across Nebraska

For the fifth time, the Nebraska Antique Farming Association will be sponsoring the “Tractor Relay Across Nebraska” event, which is set to take place June 4-12.

More than 80 antique tractors are expected to be on display as drivers will be traversing the Nebraska countryside. The public is invited to see the tractors June 3 at the Homestead National Monument of America at Beatrice before they leave on their journey.

From there, the fleet will begin their trip June 4, traveling at about 12 mph and stopping at a multitude of locations across the state.

According to the itinerary, on Saturday, June 4, the caravan will travel from Beatrice Homestead National Monument to Geneva (56 miles). On June 5, drivers will go from Geneva to Hastings (42 miles), followed by Hastings to St. Paul (47 miles) on June 6 and St. Paul to Broken Bow (68 miles) on June 7.

On Wednesday, June 8, the group of tractors will be driven from Broken Bow to Thedford (88 miles). On June 9, they will drive from Thedford to Hyannis (65 miles) then Hyannis to Alliance (59 miles) on June 10. The relay will finish strong with a 42-mile trip from Alliance to Scotts Bluff National Monument on June 11, before concluding on June 12 with a drive from Scotts Bluff National Monument to the Agate Fossil National Monument.

Money raised along the way will go to Operation Comfort Warriors, an American Legion program that benefits wounded warriors and their families.
