The innovative use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology on farm tools has been one of the best received additions to the agricultural industry in recent years, as farmers who have used John Deere equipment noted that it helps with their day-to-day operations, the North Queensland Register reported.

According to the news source, the implementation of GPS on farm equipment has helped farmers save time, better manage their fertilizer and spray application and record field information.

A sales manager told the Register that John Deere engineers are constantly coming up with products that help farmers get the most out of their equipment and harvests.

"It seems every new tractor is sporting a new yellow GPS receiver these days - ask anyone who has one and they would tell you they don't know how they ever farmed without it," the manager told the news source.

The Journal of Commerce reported that the GPS systems also are an important tool for construction workers and foremen, as the technology can help them prepare a site better, monitor their operations and use products like a John Deere excavator more efficiently.
