The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation is set to host its annual meeting on Dec. 1 and 2, highlighting local partnerships throughout the state. The theme for the meeting, which is in its 97th year, is “Growing for the Greater Good.” This goal is to recognize Farm Bureau members who have worked in cooperation with their neighbors to benefit Iowans.

"We want to celebrate programs that are lifting up Iowa for the greater good – the ways Farm Bureau members are making a difference in their communities and collaborating with conservation groups, with rural entrepreneurs and others," says Barb Lykins, IFBF director of community resources. "Let’s showcase how great those kinds of efforts are and the positive impact they have for our state."

Throughout Dec. 1, there will be a slew of seminars hosted at the event, addressing everything from local farming to rural innovation. Recipients of the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award will also be featured during a luncheon.

On Dec. 2, the focus will shift to Iowa’s next generation of farm leaders during the IFBF Young Farmer Discussion Meet. At the event, participants will be vying for the state title, a John Deere X320 riding mower and a chance to advance to the national competition.
