The Missouri State Fair was recognized for its robust program offerings for commercial agriculture vendors.

Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe announced on Dec. 23 that the fair has been recognized as one of the best in the world by the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE). Additionally, it has received recognition for its overall program for commercial agriculture vendors, unique contests and sponsorship continuity.

“The Missouri State Fair is the premier agriculture showcase in the state,” said Wolfe. “It is outstanding to see the efforts of our Fair Commission and Staff recognized on an international scale.”

At the 125th Annual IAFE Conventions’ Agricultural Awards Ceremony, sponsored by John Deere, the fair was the winner of the Overall Judges Creative Award for its agricultural event titled, “Let’s Talk Livestock.” The educational session is one of many that has been rolled out by the fair.

The IAFE, which originates from Springfield, Mo., is a nonprofit organization that serves agricultural fairs, shows, expositions and exhibitions. It has more than 1,200 members from around the world.

Last year, Missouri State Fair organizers held a food drive, collecting cans to replicate a John Deere tractor at the event. This was one of many efforts to shed light on local issues and volunteer efforts.

In 2016, the annual Missouri State Fair will be held between August 11 and 21 in Sedalia, Mo. This year, more than 352,000 people attended the fair, according to Wolfe.
