An Illinois machinery dealer whose sales include Deere tractors finalized a purchase that will see its market widen.
A Midwest tractor dealer purchased a handful of dealerships that vend John Deere construction and forestry equipment, according to a published report.

Finalized in mid-December, the agreement announced Wednesday has Dealers Principals of West Side Tractor Sales assuming control of five machinery and equipment dealerships from Holt Equipment, the SunHerald.com reports.

"After 49 years in business, we feel the Indiana acquisition is perfect timing as a recovery appears to be just around the corner," said Diane Benck, West Side Tractor Sales general operations manager. "Indiana's fiscal responsibility, reasonable labor costs and rural tradition that matches well with our John Deere product line, made the state an attractive target to meet our family’s growth objectives."

West Side Tractor Sales, which is a third-generation Benck family business, now possesses exclusive rights to sell Deere equipment in 68 counties in neighboring Indiana and three Michigan counties. West Side Tractor Sales will resume selling machinery in Illinois.

"Our intent is to aggressively build a product support infrastructure to support our customer base," Benck said. "Increased inventory, product support investment and a general improvement in the national economy should double our employment in the state of Indiana over the next two years."
