The John Deere Gator Mid-Duty XUV 550 or 550 S4 crossover utility vehicles are able to accomplish a variety of tasks, including transporting passengers, holding extra gear and traversing difficult terrain.

"These new vehicles provide a balance of off-road performance and work capability at a very affordable price," David Gigandet, tactical marketing manager, Gator utility vehicles, told the news source. "They are a great complement to our lineup of XUVs, and they offer the most comfortable way to get you, your crew, and all your supplies to those hard-to-reach destinations."

Agriculture Magazine reported that the machines have a top speed of 28 mph and four wheel drive, providing transport for people who live in secluded areas or more practical driving. Many sports teams and academic institutions have a gator as an utility vehicle.

According to the company's website, the Gator also comes with a V-twin cylinder engine that is capable of producing 16 horsepower at 3800 rotations per minute, and has four-wheel suspension for increased comfort.
