After 23 years, the annual Mohr Threshing Picnic had its final day of threshing, eating and visiting with other community members on Sunday, September 18, the Omaha World-Herald reports.

When Elvera Mohr died in 2011, her husband Glen carried on the tradition of bringing the community together every year. But after Glen's death this past June, their four kids say this event is likely the final hurrah.

"This is probably the last one," said Deanna Hansen, one of the Mohrs' four adult children. "This really was dad's thing and, boy, is it ever a lot of work."

Danny Mohr, another son, took a moment at the event to remember the times he spent with his father rebuilding a 1946 John Deere Model D tractor.

"I love this [picnic] because it reminds me of so many great memories like that," he said.

The John Deere Model D tractor is highly sought among tractor collectors and enthusiasts, and is known as Deere's longest running tractor. First assembled in March of 1923, John Deere produced 160,000 of the popular tractors before ending production in July 1953, according to Tractor Data.

The Model D has become a staple in Deere enthusiasts' collections, providing memories to many.
