Though many people have used lawn mowers to tend to their grass, a new partnership announced by Major League Baseball will bring their properties a little closer to the field.

MLB stated that it has joined with the Scotts Company in order to provide baseball fans with the chance to purchase grass seed blends that are used at some of the most popular baseball parks in the country. Fertilizers used at the park will also be up for purchase.

Tim Brosnan, executive vice president of business for MLB, said that the grass used on fields is part of the foundation of the sport.

"Now with the help of Scotts, our fans can challenge their local clubs for the title of who has the 'best lawn in the neighborhood," Brosnan said.

Some of the grass blends that will be offered include those used at Boston's Fenway Park and Chicago's Wrigley Field.

However, in order to make sure the grass survives through spring training, lawn owners should make sure to take the best care of their lawns. Experts note that consumers should not over mow their lawns while also providing enough water during dry spells.
