According to a recent Greeley Tribune article, Howard Axelson, a Greeley, Colorado resident, will auction off 26 antique family tractors on November 30, making it the biggest antique tractor auction of its kind in recent memory.

For years, Axelson has packed tractors into his 150-by-50 foot shed, which is filled with antique tractors dating back to the 1920s that are still up and running. Axelson spent much of his life traveling the country with his father, collecting antique tractors. When asked why he is auctioning off his collection, his answer was simple, “Dad’s not around anymore. It’s just not as much fun without him. I guess everything comes to an end at some point.”

The sale of his 26 antique tractors, which includes multiple John Deere tractors, will be a spectacular event to close a tractor-collecting era in Greeley according to event organizers. According to the article, Kreps Wiedeman Auctioneers and Real Estate Inc. will manage the auction, and they believe it will be a one of a kind event. “We’ve never heard of an antique tractor auction quite like this anywhere in the area ... not this big, and not in the 30 years we’ve been in business,” said Bob Kreps. “There’s often one or two antique tractors sold here and there at regular auctions ... but nothing like this.”

November 30 will mark the end of an antique tractor collecting era in the Greeley, Colorado era. The sale of Howard Axelson’s tractors will be one of the most unique the area has seen according to event organizers.
