The John Deere Classic ended in dramatic fashion this weekend, as veteran Steve Stricker edged out rookie Kyle Stanley in the last holes of the tournament, according to CNN.
Stricker fought his way back on the last two holes, scoring two consecutive birdies as he scored a final round 69 to finish at 22-under-par, the news source reported.
The event in Illinois was won by Stricker for the third straight year, making him only the 10th golfer to win the same tournament three times in a row since the post-war era, CNN reported.
"When I get into a situation where I have to make a putt, I feel like my nerves kind of go away and I focus extremely hard on trying to make that putt," Stricker said in a press conference. "And that's kind of like the little zone I got into on 17 and 18, I guess."
John Deere also offered tournament attendees a tour of its facilities and showcased its line of tractors for the crowd. The agriculture company has a variety of new models ranging from grain harvesters to riding mowers, according to the company website.
