National Agriculture Day celebrates American agriculture and reminds people of how it impacts their daily lives.

National Agriculture Day will be celebrated on March 20, 2018, marking the 45th anniversary of the event. The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) is hosting the celebration, which will be recognized in classrooms and communities across the country.

This year’s theme is “Agriculture: Food for Life.” The goal is to tell the story of American agriculture and remind citizens of the prominence of it in daily life. On March 20, the ACA will host several events to commemorate the date, including an event at the National Press Club. There will also be a Taste of Agriculture Celebration event, and about 100 college students will be invited to Washington D.C. to spread the word about Ag Day.

Throughout the day across the country, producers, agricultural associations, corporations, students and government organizations are expected to celebrate Ag Day. The event is specifically designed to encourage Americans to understand how food and fiber products are produced; appreciate the role of agriculture in providing “safe, abundant and affordable” products; value the role of agriculture in the economy; and acknowledge and consider the career opportunities in the industry.

Individuals who are interested in planning an event can download a planning guide on the Ag Day website. Those who want to participate in celebrations can also share information about agriculture to the younger generation throughout the day.
