The globe's largest manufacturer of agricultural equipment has signed on to recognize contributions by the agriculture industry during celebrations that will take place next month on America's front lawn.

According to gardennews.biz, John Deere again will partner with the Agriculture Council of America and additional groups will sponsor National Ag Day, which will be March 15 in Washington. Nationwide agriculture groups are slated to honor the industry's contributions from March 13 to March 19.

"This year, on March 15, high-profile events will be held in Washington, D.C., for legislators, government officials, and industry leaders to focus public attention on the important role that farmers and ranchers play in providing an abundant, safe, and affordable supply of food, fuel and fiber," according to Barry Nelson, media relations manager for John Deere.

Nelson said the agriculture industry fulfills many valuable roles in the U.S. and for the national economy. Agriculture provides jobs and encourages commerce by providing exports. The agriculture sector also serves a strategic purpose by reducing dependency on foreign energy sources.

"Ag Day was created to recognize and celebrate the contribution of agriculture in our everyday lives," Nelson said.
