First mow of season should bring used tractor maintenance to mind

As much as maintaining a lawn in the proper manner can make it healthy, keeping tabs on the used tractor that mows it can lead to better results.

According to a recent column for AllAboutLawns.com, writer Joe Cooper noted that one of the first things consumers should do in the spring months is check up on their used tractors. Checking blade sharpness is one consideration, as is changing the oil on the machines.

"Good lawnmower maintenance is easy and straightforward once you master the basics, including an oil change around every two years," Cooper wrote.

Used tractor owners should also consider replacing spark plugs every mowing season. Cooper said that stale fuel can lead to wear on the plugs.

In taking out a used tractor for the first mow of the season, consumers should also make sure they take safety into account. For example, steel-toed boots may be an option to consider, as could safety goggles. Tractor users should also be careful of wet ground that could make it difficult to climb hills.ADNFCR-2034-ID-19795718-ADNFCR
