John Deere recognized an Eastern Iowa company on Wednesday, tapping the firm as a partner-level supplier for its 2010 service, according to a published report.

On a date that marked a significant milestone for Dohrn Transfer of Rock Island, the John Deere Achieving Excellence Program also bestowed it with Worldwide Logistics Supplier of the Year. Dohrn handled Deere's Midwest transportation and logistics services. The company supplies logistical support to John Deere dealerships, enabling the company to ship tractors, Gator utility vehicles and other agricultural equipment.

"All of the employees of Dohrn Transfer worked diligently to provide the level of excellence required to receive this honor," company president Gary Dohrn told the Quad City Business Journal. "To have this occur on our 30th anniversary is especially gratifying."

Dohrn Transfer operates 23 hubs in eight states and has bolstered its staff by 68 people since 2010. The company's workforce totals 876 and growth plans have not yet stopped.

"We expect to add 50 more local employees in 2011," the company president said. "We have been in a growth mode since last year and look to continue it. We are adding at a pace of over 100 employees per year."
