'Pedal Pull' victor says farm show competition is not easy

Even a 9-year-old girl found entertainment at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, thanks to a toy John Deere tractor at the center of an event designed for children.

Jordan Noll was atop the tractor and struggled to haul in excess of 100 pounds of weight in a variation of a tractor pull at the Harrisburg fair. She moved 15 feet down the wooden raceway before the strenuous demand sapped away all the energy in her young legs.

"It looks easy, but it's hard," Jordan told Public Opinion Online.

For those efforts during the Pedal Pull, Jordan won a model tractor but couldn't decide whether she would treat it like a toy and play with it or if it would sit on a shelf and serve as a visual memory.

"Maybe both," she said.

Fair volunteer John Stitch said the Pedal Pull is one of the fair's most popular events for the past six-plus years. And, he said, it is gaining popularity.

The U.S.' largest indoor agricultural exhibition is slated to continue through this Saturday.
