The Lubbock, Texas Women's Protective Services (WPS) held an event to help benefit and provide funding for programs that would give women who were the victims of domestic violence support and a chance to recover, according to KCBD 11 Lubbock.

A group of local residents in Lubbock, Texas held the event, which will give funding to the WPS, as the 12th annual John Deere Raffle Fundraiser took place in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. All proceeds from the drawing went directly to the organization, reported the news source.

Tickets to the event went for $100 and were tax deductible. The guests were treated to barbeque from local residents, country music from the Penni Lawrence Band and a chance to win one of four John Deere Gator vehicles, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

The Lubbock Women's Protective Services provides Texas residents with a safe haven for physically, emotionally and sexually abused women and their dependent children. The WPS uses the funding to provide shelter, food and a transition program, the organization's website reported.
