In 1995, Brian Bowles and Richard Stein first met. At the time, Brian was working with PB Dye Designs and supervising the construction of Black Bear Golf Club, a new course owned by Richard. A friendship and respect quickly developed based on the love of the game and a common philosophy of how the golf business should be conducted. Drawing upon their experiences, they changed the way company would conduct business and place the emphasis on customer needs. They decided to treat customers in the manner that they would have wanted to be treated. Customer Service became the number one priority.
